On Tuesday, 16 May 2017 the Club hosted the 2017 Australian Seniors’ Medal in conjunction with the 2-round NSW Seniors’ Classic.

Over 55s from all over Australia competed in the event with 153 entries received for a field of 96 spots. 

Congratulations to Stephen Gibson of St. Michael’s GC who defeated Simon Dunstone of Gungahlin Lakes GC and Gordon Claney of Kingston Heath GC on the second play-off hole to win the event. All 3 players shot 74 gross in the 18-hole Seniors Order of Merit event before each making Par’s on the 1st play-off hole. Stephen put his tee shot to within 6 feet of the 2nd hole and a 2-putt was enough to secure victory.

Roy Vandersluis of The Lakes GC won the 65 years and over division with a score of 75 gross in front of The Australian GC’s own Nick Dunn who shot 78. Simon Dunstone (Handicap 4) secured the nett win with a score of 70 strokes nett, 2 shots ahead of John Boys (Handicap 10) of The Lakes GC.

In conjunction was the 2017 NSW Seniors’ Classic, played over 36 Holes at The Lakes GC & The Australian GC. Gordon Claney won the event with 152 Strokes on a countback over Paul Maslen of Moss Vale GC. Both players gain automatic entry into the 2017 NSW Seniors’ Open to be held at Thurgoona Country Club Resort in early November.
