The Australian Senior Medal was held on Tuesday, 9 May 2023. A full field of 108 elite male amateur golfers over 55 years of age competed in this national Senior Order of Merrit event, including 10 AGC Members. The format is 18-hole scratch stroke play from the white tees.

The event is held in conjunction with the 54-hole NSW Senior Classic held at The Lakes Golf Club (May 8), The Australian Golf Club (May 9) and Avondale Golf Club (May 10).

Congratulations to Ken Brewer (Newcastle GC) who won this year’s championship with 75 strokes. Ken won by 1-stroke from Ian Bradley (The Australian GC), who eagled the last hole to collect the runner-up prize. Ken also went on to win the NSW Senior Classic with rounds of 82, 75 & 75 (+17 total). Glenn Patterson (The Australian GC) claimed 3rd place with a great score of 77 strokes.

The over 65yrs division was won by Douglas Cullam (Monash CC) with 78 strokes ahead of Greg Orvis (Thirteenth Beach GC) with 79.

Congratulations also to John Frechtling (The Australian GC, handicap 12) who won the net event with 70 strokes. The runner-up prize is awarded to Peter Martin (The Brisbane GC, 7) with 72 strokes net.
