The original trophy was provided from the dividend from 180 shares in Kensington Golf Links Limited left to the Club by the late Sir John Vicars. The dividend amounting to five pounds and eight shillings was to be used for this purpose. Sir John Vicars was Captain from 1920-22, President from 1924-31 and was made a life member in 1930.
