The Sussex Trophy was first held in 1936 and is an annual event played between The Royal Australian Navy and The Australian Golf Club Members. The Sussex Trophy cannon was presented by the officers of H.M.S Sussex following visits in 1936. This cannon was stolen in 1979 and in 1988 John S. Robinson ESQ presented a new cannon to replace the stolen trophy.
